The Science Behind Finding Your Zen

With Jessica Addeo

Tuesday, March 21, 7:00 ~ 8:30 pm

$40

Did you know that as you are practicing yoga you are providing specific types of sensory input that stimulate the production of coping chemicals inyour nervous system? Your practice makes you more resilient in the face of stress in all of its forms.

Once you are aware of how this is working a few things can happen. 1- You can enhance your
practice, dial up the parts that really serve your particular nervous system. 2- You can take what
is working for you on the mat and bring it with you into daily life. That calm, Zen feeling you have
in Shavasana, would you like to bring that with you to work, to a disagreement with a loved one,
to a hectic day? Come learn how!

In this workshop Jessica will cover:

- What is your nervous system, your sensory system and how does this relate to yoga?
- What is the science behind being “present” (and how to apply this to daily life, on and off
the mat)?
- How can knowing your nervous system needs enhance your yoga practice (physically
and emotionally)?
- How can you structure your overall life schedule (including when and how you practice
yoga) to support your nervous system?
- How does supporting your nervous system, through yoga practices, enhance your
relationships and interactions off the mat?

Bring your yoga mat and a bottle of water to drink.  There will be some gentle yoga practice, discussion and explanation.

Jessica Addeo is an occupational therapist, nervous system coach and 200 hour yoga teacher.
